Consider Rimrock Trails

Volunteer Program

Would you like to support a non-profit in your community or make an impact on a young person's life?

Volunteers provide help for our programs in a number of substantive ways, enhancing the treatment experience of our clients and providing support to staff. We work to match each volunteer with opportunities to suit their talents, interest, and availability.

Volunteer activities are focused on motivating and supporting clients in building the character strengths, skills, and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health, smart life choices and the pursuit of higher education, employment, and goals.

Volunteers give youth who are receiving treatment services from all walks of life the resources and support they need to be healthy, confident, connected and secure as they help pave the way to a path for a brighter future.

The Ways You Can Help

1. Helping Teens at the Adolescent Residential Treatment Program

  • Recreational/Life Skills Activities

    • Volunteers provide assistance to enhance the experience, education, social and life skills of youth in the residential programs at Rimrock Trails.  You can help with an existing program (such as gardening, exercise, equine therapy, knitting or crocheting) or help to create your own by teaching a trade, craft or other skill such as drawing or painting, music, robotics, card making, etc…

  • Career Days

    • Once a month, local professionals speak to youth about their careers and the paths that took them there. You can provide tremendous inspiration to youth, many who have had few role models. Your experiences with confronting challenges, goal setting, life-long ambitions, making decisions, making your way up, and even changing direction are all relevant to the conversation. Youth in attendance will be between 12 and 17.

      • Career days are scheduled on weekdays between 9 am and noon.

      • Background clearances are not needed for this one-time volunteer experience.

  • Holiday Activities

    • Youth in residential treatment have school breaks just like kids in regular school during the holidays. Thanksgiving, Christmas and Spring Break require additional support to keep youth occupied and provide them fun experiences during their holiday vacations. You can participate in planned activities both onsite and offsite which can include things like going to the movies, bowling, arts and crafts, and rafting. In coordination with our Clinical Director, you can also help to create and lead your own fun and unique activity to incorporate into their holiday vacation schedule.

2. Helping Behind the Scenes

  • Administrative Support

    • Help with tasks such as filing, copying, collating, assembling mailings, and special projects.  These opportunities are available in both our Prineville Residential location and in our Bend Counseling Office.

  • Medical Assistance and Support

    • This volunteer opportunity is perfect for those with prior experience or careers in the medical field. These volunteers will provide medical assistance to and under the direction of our Physician. Services include assisting the physician with procedures and other processes related to direct patient health care.  This volunteer position is a key support in various aspects of medical services provided in the residential treatment program, including a variety of clerical and patient support duties, chart entry, picking up prescriptions and assisting the physician in maintaining efficient patient flow within the program.
